HENZO (Kenya)

HENZO KENYA, is a Community Based Organization that brings together cancer patients mainly for mutual support.

Our main membership is Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) and Gastro-intestinal stromal tumors (GIST) patients, a community of about 1600 from all over the country, who are brought together by a medicine called Glivec (Imatinib), a first line treatment for both of those conditions, is made accessible to the patients through Max Foundation.

We get inquiries for support from people suffering from other forms of Leukemia and other blood conditions, but we are yet to build sufficient capacity to offer any form of support to them. We hope to be able to develop that needed capacity through partnership with ALAN.

Our Mission is to create awareness about CML, GIST and other cancers, provide emotional and social support to members and other cancer patients and to advocate for mainstreaming of issues related to cancer that affect patients and general public; with a Vision to be the hub of information, psycho social and emotional support for Cancer patients and a key advocate for the same.

The goals and objectives of Henzo are to reduce cancer mortality and morbidity rate in Kenya.
